Country Preference

Scenario:-

WWIII happened recently causing a lot of bloodshed around the globe; all the major powers of the world faced a downfall in every sector i.e. economy, military, population, democracy, internal peace, and everything which made them a major power in the first place. Now there is a set of countries that holds some potential to become the next superpower but for that, they need to prove themselves.

***Note: - this is a totally hypothetical situation where we discuss what can be the outcome.

A brief about WWIII:-

  • It all started with Covid – 19, which was purposely spread by China with the ambition of bringing every country’s economy down and becoming the superpower. But as there were a terrible number of deaths in the USA, and there were other disputes with China as well, the USA wanted to take revenge. It announced a war against China.

  • Pakistan saw an opportunity in this and with the help of china; it attacked India in order to claim Kashmir, India having a major military, fought against Pakistan.

  • Russia wanted to go against the USA and seeing China was against the USA, it wanted to join hands with China. Russia helped Pakistan with attacking India.

  • Seeing Russia’s involvement, the USA attacked Russia as well.

  • Canada saw a golden opportunity to become the ultimate superpower and hence, declared war on the USA taking help of UK.

  • USA couldn’t stand against such great forces and used nuclear weapons on China, Russia, and the UK. But when it was using a nuclear weapon against Canada, it got mistreated which led to an explosion within the USA which made sure the downfall of Canada, Mexico, and the US itself.

  • During all this, the EU was against the UK helping Canada. And as there were many other factors as well like Brexit, the EU wanted to declare war on the UK. In which, many countries backed off.

  • Due to Covid, there was a lack of trade and tourism in the EU and now countries backing off, resulted EU’s downfall as well.

Indonesia

  • Potential point: Can develop a strong naval force; has a large area; has a large population, and can do trade efficiently.

  • Drawback: Backward society; needs gender equality; not so good relations with its neighbors.

Turkey

  • Potential point: Developing as a strong military, having its bases in Qatar and Somalia.

  • Drawback: Crashing economy; many deaths due to Covid – 19.

Israel

  • Potential point: High tech military; Major military in the Middle East; have a numerous amount of natural resources to enhance its trade.

  • Drawback: The inability of Israel to develop long-term, stable, positive relationships with its immediate neighbors, regional powers, and the subject populations of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip means that Jerusalem continues to feel insecure, its dominance on land, air, and sea notwithstanding. Tactics and technologies, however effective and impressive, cannot solve these problems; only politics can.

Germany

  • Potential point: Has a strong economy; strong military; a developed country.

  • Drawback: Bad reputation as a country due to WWII; not many natural resources; can fall into Nazism again which will lead to strong opposition.

Italy

  • Potential point: Italy's great power strength includes a vast advanced economy (in terms of national wealth, net wealth per capita, and national GDP), a strong manufacturing industry, a large luxury goods market, a large national budget, and the third-largest gold reserve in the world. Overall, Italy is a marvelous economy; friendly relations with neighbors.

  • Drawback: highly dependent on tourism which can lead to an economic crash. Not a strong military as compared to others; not many natural resources.

Japan

  • Potential point: Has one of the best technologies in the world; marvelous economy.

  • Drawback: weak military; people being afraid of the war consequences from WWII.

Korea (together)

  • Potential point: If both North Korea and South Korea come together, they can make an influence on the world.

  • Drawback: Both countries have many disputes so how is it possible for them to peacefully come together?

UAE

  • Potential point: Very rich in natural resources; strong economy.

  • Drawback: Backward society; weak military.

Switzerland

  • Potential point: the World Bank; always stays neutral so no war casualties.

  • Drawback: Weak military; highly dependent on tourism.

South Africa

  • Potential point: More than nine years after the end of apartheid, South Africa has emerged as Africa's political superpower. The status is grounded in South Africa's economic success.

  • Drawback: The problem of HIV/AIDS in South Africa had to be regarded as extremely serious. People in South Africa were puzzled as to why infection had spread so widely in a society that ought to have been better able to cope with it.

Pakistan

  • Potential point: A strong Military.

  • Drawback: Loss of economy due to the fight against India. High gender discrimination. Poor health of people in many districts like Sindh, Baluchistan, etc.

Brazil

  • Potential point: The country’s size, impressive resources, sophisticated corporations, and solid macroeconomic management.

  • Drawback: Development in small, uneven steps. The inability of Brazilians to think in long term. Loss of trust on Brazil due to mismanagement of Amazon forest.

Malaysia

  • Potential point: located near major shipping lanes, safe from natural disasters like earthquakes. No post-WWIII causalities.

  • Drawback: Huge discrimination on the basis of religion and race. High corruption in government. Poor resource management. Lacking leadership skills.

Each candidate would get a country from the list above, to defend and prove why they deserve to become the next global superpower among the rest.
